Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance (WVACA) presented its first-ever Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarships to four extremely deserving 2022 graduating seniors at the Wimberley High School Awards Ceremony last Wednesday, May 11, 2022. WVACA president, Deirdre Taylor and scholarship committee chair, Carl Rabenalt, joined Robert Moreman’s wife, Cathy Moreman and daughter, Dr. Sara Moreman, to present the $6000 one-time awards. The winners included: artist/actor, Abigail Burke; actor, Jack Garrett; chef/metal fabricator, Guy Massey; musician/composer, Simon Ramirez. Congratulations to these inspiring young people, who have all been accepted to top universities in their fields starting this fall.

WVACA created the Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of Robert Moreman, an active participant in this organization, which was founded in 2013 by Cathy Moreman when she was director of the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce. The scholarship is intended for graduating seniors from Wimberley high schools (WHS and KAPS), who demonstrate unusual accomplishment and professional commitment in one of WVACA’s four creative pillars: performing, visual, literary and culinary arts, or – in recognition of Robert’s profession – crafters and makers in the building and related trades.

This will be an annual scholarship. Donations are being accepted now for 2023 scholarships.
