I paint badly, but enjoy it. The arts in general are very important in my life. My graduate work in Cultural Studies focused on ethnography and visual arts. Part of that involves reception studies–how people interpret art, how they are shaped by it, and how they create meaning from it. I am particularly interested in rebellious uses of art . . . ways of provoking thought or action.
